ISE Colloquium

Anil Markose gives a seminar on his seminar

Over the last 6 years, Anil Markose has been embedded with two of the most disruptive changes in technology--the rapid adoption of the public cloud, and rethinking of everything with AI. His front row seat at two of the most impacted organizations in these spaces, AWS and Oracle, gives him a unique perspective on the challenges of managing simultaneous frontier AI model deployment and workforce reskilling and deployment, while building regulatory and customer trust and enterprise security. The complexities of this tectonic shift are enormous.

Dr. Bo Shen presents his talk Deep Learning for Process-Structure-Property Relationship in Advanced Manufacturing

Understanding and controlling the process–structure–property relationship is central to advancing manufacturing. This talk presents AI/ML methods that study manufacturing processes and material properties through physically meaningful intermediate representations.

Dr. Jeff Shamma presents his research

The framework of multi-agent game-theoretic learning explores how individual agent strategies evolve in response to the strategies of others. A central question is whether these evolving strategies converge to classical solution concepts, such as Nash equilibrium.

Dr. Diego Moran Ramirez present his research

We study the integrality gap of convex mixed-integer programs, that is, the difference between the optimal value of such a problem and the optimal value of its continuous relaxation. We study classes of convex sets whose associated optimization problem have finite integrality gap: Dirichlet convex sets, sets with full-dimensional recession cones and sets that can be approximated by polyhedral sets. In the latter two cases, we provide estimates for the value of the integrality gap.

Dr. Andrew Trapp presenting his research

What does it mean, in the 21st century, to answer Rensselaer's founding directive of applying science to the common purposes of life through rigorous mathematics and algorithms? Historically, mathematical optimization has focused on minimizing costs, reducing time, or maximizing profits. Yet, as sociological patterns evolve and our communities grow ever more complex, leaders across the public and social sectors face increasing challenges that exceed traditional capabilities.
