Catalog 26-27 | Class of 2030 Advising Handbook
The dual major in Business Analytics (BSAN) and Industrial & Management Engineering (IME) is an interdisciplinary program that combines advanced analytical skills with a deep understanding of systems optimization and engineering management. This program prepares students to lead in industries where data-driven decision-making and process optimization are critical, such as manufacturing, supply chain, healthcare, and operations management.
The BSAN curriculum equips students with expertise in data modeling, statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and machine learning, enabling them to derive actionable insights from complex datasets. The IME curriculum complements this with a focus on systems design, operations research, logistics, and engineering management, giving students the tools to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and make strategic decisions across diverse industries.
Students benefit from experiential learning opportunities, including internships, research projects, and interdisciplinary capstone experiences that integrate analytical methods with engineering principles. The program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, ensuring graduates are prepared to collaborate across technical and managerial teams. Advanced coursework in areas such as supply chain analytics, operations optimization, and simulation modeling prepares students to address real-world challenges in dynamic environments.
Graduates of the BSAN and IME dual major are uniquely positioned for careers at the intersection of data analytics and industrial engineering. They are sought after for roles such as operations analyst, supply chain manager, process improvement specialist, and systems engineer. With their ability to bridge the gap between analytics and engineering, graduates of this program are equipped to drive innovation and efficiency in a technology-driven, data-rich global economy.
