Richard Garrett

Richard Garrett works in the Complex Systems for National Security group at Sandia National Laboratories, where he drives the development and application of analytical solutions that support multiple U.S. government agencies. His work impacts vital missions in the national interest, such as electric power grid resilience and energy equity for the Department of Energy and climate adaptation of critical infrastructures for the Department of Homeland Security. His previous role at Sandia involved the application of Industrial and Systems Engineering methods to improve manufacturing processes on behalf of the National Nuclear Security Administration. Richard led the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute recruiting team for Sandia and is engaged in efforts to connect students and researchers with opportunities that enhance collaboration between both organizations. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial and Management Engineering from RPI, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences with dual concentrations in Operations Research and Statistics from Virginia Commonwealth University.
