Troy, N.Y. — According to the recent National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Job Outlook 2017 survey, hiring for U.S. openings is expected to be relatively flat. Employers indicated plans to hire 5.8 percent more new graduates during 2016-17 than they did in 2015-16 for their U.S. operations.
Cubic GaN LED Materials Breakthrough Creates New Opportunities for Higher Efficiency Full-Spectrum Lighting and Displays
Troy, N.Y. — A team of faculty and graduate students from the Center for Lighting Enabled Systems & Applications (LESA), headquartered at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the University of New Mexico (UNM) were recently awarded a U. S. patent titled “Growth of Cubic Crystalline Phase Structure on Silicon Substrates and Devices Comprising the Cubic Crystalline Phase.” Cubic gallium nitride (GaN) devices hold promise for addressing two long-standing issues that limit the performance of light emitting diodes (LEDs).
Sikorsky Aircraft Designed by Rensselaer Alumnus Donated to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
Troy, N.Y. — Last October, Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company, announced the donation of its ground-breaking X2 Technology™ Demonstrator to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
Troy, N.Y. – During the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute winter break, a team of 13 engineering students from the Rensselaer Engineering Ambassadors program carved out time to visit 67 classrooms at the St. Raymond Academy schools located in Bronx, N.Y., for a full day of hands-on activities and presentations in engineering.
