Vivian Rost-Nasshan, an Independent Senator and the Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee at RPI as part of the Student Senate, is currently running for Grand Marshal.
Vivian advocates for all academic-based issues, and this year that has included projects regarding the academic calendar, textbook prices, and the presence of exams immediately after Breaks. Some tangible successes of Vivian’s tenure include a package deal with the Bookstore for lower priced textbooks for Psych 1, Physics 1, Calc I, and Chem I; and a concrete proposal for protecting reading days and removing exams from right after Break, which will be presented to the Faculty Senate next month.
The position of Grand Marshal was created in 1865 to honor a student respected and admired by his/her classmates. More information about Vivian and her platform is available online.
