This past weekend, the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), in collaboration with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), organized a “Six Sigma Green Belt (GB) and Healthcare Green Belt (HC-GB) Dual Certification” course. The event, held from Friday, September 20th to Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, was open to RPI students, faculty, alumni, and community members.
Hosted by RPI’s IISE Student Chapter under the mentorship of Dr. Emily Liu—Professor and Head of the ISE Department, and Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering (MANE)—the course provided a valuable opportunity for participants to earn industry-recognized certifications at a significantly discounted rate.
Over the course of three intensive days, 25 participants were immersed in Six Sigma methodology, gaining tools and processes applicable across industries, including healthcare. The program featured lectures, presentations, and interactive workshops designed to teach data-driven problem-solving techniques. Upon completion, participants received dual certifications in Six Sigma GB and Healthcare GB, boosting their professional qualifications.
The course was led by Professor Asish Ghosh, Master Black Belt (MBB) and Director of the invent@Rensselaer Programs, as well as Professor of Practice in MANE at RPI. His expertise ensured participants left with both practical skills and a strong understanding of Six Sigma principles.
RPI’s ISE Department offers Six Sigma certification courses every semester, continuing to provide valuable opportunities for students, alumni, and community members to enhance their credentials.
