Commencement 2018 Profile: Laura Antoniello

The day Laura Antoniello attended a campus job fair at Rensselaer Polytechnic Instititue changed everything. She was an electronic media, arts, and communication (EMAC) major and the fair was geared for engineering jobs. But Hasbro was at the event and Antoniello was really interested in working at the company, having grown up near its headquarters. The Hasbro recruiter gave her valuable pointers.

Building With Bottles

Powerful hurricanes and earthquakes have wreaked havoc in the United States and around the world in recent years, often leaving people stranded for months and even years without access to water, food, and shelter. A unique collaborative project at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks to provide a sustainable solution, while also considering the environment.

Alpha Pi Mu Hosts a Trip to Price Chopper‘s Distribution Center

On March 28, 2018 Alpha Pi Mu, the Honors Society of Industrial Engineers, hosted a trip to Price Chopper's distribution center located in Schenectady, Ny. Mr John Ahl, Inventory Control Summary Supervisor and Katie Kanai '18 held a discussion about distribution services, inventory management, transportation, and industry specific challenges that Price Chopper faces. This was then followed by a tour of the distribution facilities, including inbound and outbound docks, storage racks, and picking systems. They also addressed specific challenges in floral and produce shipments. Finally We would like to thank Price Chopper for their involvement. We hope to learn more from similar trips that add an important dimension to student's education that is not possible to deliver through traditional classroom instruction.
