Coast Guard Risk Data Analytics project

In a new Risk Data Analytics research project for the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Coast Guard, ISE Research Professor Martha Grabowski and ISE graduate students Bo Wang and LT Clare Dorsey, USCG, along with ISE undergraduate student Bonnke Rugira, will be developing new data analytics methods and visualizations to assist port and US Coast Guard decision makers in managing the growing risks that attend the increasing complexity of global marine transportation systems and supply chains. Disruptions in these systems, such as those produced by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, introduce catastrophic effects in marine transportation and global supply chains, creating real-time risk management challenges. Dr. Grabowski's team will develop a prototype data analytics and decision support system for US Coast Guard risk and safety managers in New Orleans, a challenging use case in the wake of the recent storms and events.
