Seyed Shahab Mofidi is awarded the John F. Fargher Scholarship by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE). This annual award is intended to recognize academic excellence and noteworthy contribution to the development of the industrial engineering profession.The second award is the St. Onge Company Honor Scholarship by the Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI). The mission of the MHEFI is to promote the study of material handling, logistics and the supply chain by exposing students and educators to the industry through financial support.The foundation awards more than $100,000 in scholarships and grants to around 30-35 students at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada each year.Shahab is a third year Ph.D student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He is interested in the study of emerging challenges in today's supply chains, the ability to cope with the cadence of today's customers and the advent of their new needs. His recent research is on developing new analytical models and adequate solution techniques that guide agile resource allocation decisions for supply chains with dispersed and highly personalized requests.
