Rensselaer To Hold Fifth Annual R Pi Day March 14

On Wednesday, March 14, Rensselaer will hold the fifth annual RPi Day (Rπ), a one-day giving campaign to raise funds for Rensselaer students.

Pi Day is an annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (or 3/14), since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of pi in decimal form.

Donors are being asked to show their pride in Rensselaer by supporting students directly with a gift to areas of greatest need, scholarship and financial aid. Other avenues of giving include the student-powered crowd-funding program weR Gold or supporting athletic programs with a gift to Let’s Go Red!

To add excitement to RPi Day, there will be a number of challenges and matches:

School Match

Anyone who makes a gift to their school Annual Fund from 1 to 2 p.m. will have their gift matched up to $3,141.

Shout-Out Challenge

Give a shout-out on social media to your favorite RPI professor or staff member from 2 to 3 p.m.!  Be sure to use #RPi314. At the end of the hour, Puckman will choose a winner, and a gift of $1,592 will be made in honor of that special person.

Rπ Day Sticker Giveaway

Wes Schrom ’76 has the Rπ spirit! The first 314 donors will receive an Rπ sticker, courtesy of Schrom.

Paula Simon ’68 Rπ Day Match

Rensselaer Board of Trustees member Paula Simon ’68 generously agreed to match all gifts, up to $10,000, in support of students. The challenge has already been met!
